Washington Times Features 'Domestic Enemies'

The Washington Times had a very nice feature on 'Domestic Enemies'.  George Washington and America’s other Founding Fathers faced off against homegrown radical leftists after they booted out the British and adopted a new constitution, according to a new book by investigative journalist  Daniel Greenfield . “Domestic Enemies: The Founding Fathers’ Fight Against the Left” (Simon & Schuster 2024) examines how leftist ideology made its way into the U.S. long before the 1960s or even German political and economic socialist theorist Karl Marx. “The Left is America’s oldest enemy,” Mr.  Greenfield  said in an interview with The Washington Times. The book describes the political trials and tribulations of post-revolutionary America starting with President Washington’s first term and the subsequent power grabs and political turmoil that echo in today’s events. “Domestic Enemies” tells of how early America’s political class confronted challenges including stolen elections,...

'Domestic Enemies' Reviewed ar Legal Insurrection

Over at Legal Insurrection, Leslie Eastman kindly wrote her own review  kindly wrote her own review of 'Domestic Enemies'. As we recover from our Independence Day celebrations and look toward 2026 (the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence), I think it is a great time to shine the spotlight on a wonderful new book  by investigative journalist and columnist Daniel Greenfield. Domestic Enemies: The Founding Fathers’ Fight Against the Left, is a superb review of the early days of this nation to the Civil War in terms of the continuing continuing struggle to maintain personal liberty against utopian visionaries and their power-mongering tendencies. Greenfield’s Domestic Enemies is an engaging and engrossing read. Using well-researched and entertainingly described accounts, he clearly shows the Founding Fathers fought battles very similar to those that we are dealing with today. Greenfield manages to capture the essence of the past, and manages to make it alive in a...

Recommendations for Domestic Enemies: The Founding Fathers' Fight Against the Left

“In a superb analysis of the early American Left, Daniel Greenfield offers overwhelming evidence how the Left from the founding of the American republic opposed its emphasis on personal liberty and constitutional government. Our present struggle against wokism, global ism, utopianism, socialism, media bias, election rigging, racial essentialism, and the weaponization of government is hardly new. Greenfield shows how and why they were essential to the America Left and the Democratic Party from the very beginning. “A concise and lucid account of the little-known, but extremely important history of today’s American Left—and why it was and is so dangerous.” Victor Davis Hanson,  The Hoover institution,  'The Dying Citizen' “Great writers always lead you to see an issue in an entirely new light, and Daniel Greenfield is a great writer. His eye-opening analysis in Domestic Enemies, that America has several times in its history faced chal lenges from the Left that were ...
